News should be NEW and not old otherwise they’d call it OLDS…  Sigh…there’s a little bit of my dad’s humor for ya.  I know, it’s not even funny. Seems like though I try and try to avoid it, I’m sounding like him more and more every day.
Well it looks like this will be more of an update than a news blast.  I feel like someone slapped me in March and suddenly it’s almost May.   Time has definitely flown like an eagle carrying a basket of kittens into the sunset. Where do I begin? In March I found myself back in Florida shooting in Jupiter. This is where I normally shoot the St. Louis Cardinal’s Spring Training though I’m back to shoot a Taylor Made spot with Dustin Johnson on a really sweet golf course.
The strangest thing happened.  Dustin overhead me complimenting him on his belt buckle and after the shoot he ripped his belt off and threw it at me.  It wasn’t out of anger, just a kind man giving another man his belt.  I gladly accepted and though my swing hasn’t improved, my pants now stay up.
Straight after Jupiter, Monster and I drove to St Pete where I continued preproduction on a Nokia spot with Baseball Tonight’s John Kruk.  He is a totally cool dude and great guy to work with. Between the prep days and the shoot, I got a chance to have a weekend and decided to hit the beach with Sam Chase (DP) and the lovely Nan Monster.  Such memories include a giant thermos full of tea, lemonade, and rum leading to frolicking on the chunky-shell sand, a fresh swim in cool blue water, followed by windy Frisbee and chicken burgers.  Good times is an understatement.
Now that I’m back in the hood, I filled my time with renovating my condo while editing director cuts of old spots. I bet if you’ve read this far, you’re wondering what the insane photo of the clown is all about…   Just a few days have gone by and I couldn’t help but shoot a personal project. It’s a screen grab from one of the clips we shot.  I can’t say too much about it but it’s a celebrity-filled YouTube promo for the YOMYOMF Network. This was an eclectic mix of stunningly brilliant people all offering their time and talents to knock the socks off of viewers. Take it, Viewers! Now wash those socks after you find where they went.  It’s the first time I’ve ever co-directed a project and who else better to co-direct than with the one and only Justin Lin (Fast Five, Better Luck Tomorrow).  He’s not only a badass Asian, but he happens to be a pretty damn good director and excellent mentor.  Lets just say it was an education that I truly enjoyed.  Stay tuned for some INTENSE stuff.  INTENSE, you know, like you’re in a Wigwam or Teepee.  Stop it, Dad!
